BCA department organized an industrial visit to the National Center for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) at Noida Sector 63 on 7th December 2023. This visit was mainly focused on to understand the concepts of Weather forecasting using supercomputers and AI technologies. Dr. Radha Krishna, Scientist of Computer Department, their trainers, and coordinators explained the organization, their methods of working with different technologies, the difference between different models used for weather prediction and forecasting, along their advantages and disadvantages. He also explained about supercomputers and how it has been used in weather prediction and analysis. After the Presentation, a tour was arranged for the supercomputers like Cray X-MP, Cray XC-40, and IBM, and the steps to use them were explained. Overall, the industrial visit was very informative and beneficial for the students. Students gained enormous knowledge from the same.
